Stories of Ma Passion Gemstones – Blue Topaz

Ma Passion’s mission is to sustainably extract rare gemstones from the Earth and display them in enthralling art pieces carved by master craftsmen. Each of the master craftsmen carry a legacy of a long line of Indian sculptors preserving the ancient art of gemstone carving. The Ma Passion team works with mines all over the world and is present at every stage of the value chain. Depending on the size of the stones and the complexity required, each gemstone carving can take anywhere from a week to over a decade to complete. The level of craftsmanship and the size of the stone determine the amount of work required to complete the gemstone artefact. Every gemstone carving boasts a one-of-a-kind polish, brilliancy, and sharpness that will never be seen again.

Each Ma Passion creation is magnificent, made of precious and semi-precious stones, and inextricably linked with an artistic vision that has been honed over time. The “canvas” for Ma Passion’s award-winning craftsmen, who devote their greatest efforts to magnify the inherent characteristics of these natural gifts, are valuable and exotic gems sourced from mines in over fifty countries. The divine iconographies that are the subjects of this age-old Indian art form are encased in ethnic geometric patterns and floral embellishments.

Topaz is a fluorine and aluminium silicate mineral. Topaz is a gemstone that is naturally occurring in a variety of colours, including yellow, grey, red, and colorless, and, on rare occasions, pale blue or pink. Blue topaz is most commonly obtained by heating and irradiating colourless topaz due to its scarcity in nature. It has a hardness of 8 on the Mohs scale, making it nearly as hard as sapphire and tougher than tanzanite. Topaz, like all crystals, can be brittle and should be handled with caution.

Topaz is mined in many countries around the world, including China, the United States, Russia, and Mexico. The world’s largest transparent topaz crystals, however, are found in Brazil’s Minas Gerais region.

Ma Passion sources select few gemstones from mines across the globe, and blue topaz is one of them. Ma Passion sources blue topaz from the mines in Brazil. Every piece is made with utmost intricacy like the imperial topaz ring, the gem bracelet, and so many other designer gemstone jewellery pieces. You may witness the intricacy of blue topaz at Ma Passion, with the exquisite blue topaz Ganeshji and diamond necklace. The statement necklace is set in 42.19 grammes of 18K gold and features a carved blue topaz weighing 52.89 carats surrounded by 5.69 carats of diamonds.
