Stories of Ma Passion Gemstones – Labradorite

Ma Passion is defined by two things: art and craftsmanship. For more than 20 years, Ma Passion has been among the leading art houses in India. Ma Passion has successfully revived this traditional Indian technique of carving jewels. Master craftsmen, or Kaarigars, use their cutting-edge and modern techniques to help shape and manufacture these gemstones. Each piece’s complexity and unique detailing attest to its rarity. Each piece highlights the unique characteristics of the gemstone while sculpting minute details into motifs that give the finished work of art a shine. Only after minutely studying the characteristics of every individual gemstone is each carving of a crafted into rare artefacts.

To preserve their generational craft of gemstone carving, our kaarigars endlessly practice traditional art forms while also study and implementing newer forms of aesthetic carving techniques. The craftspeople create each item with the utmost care and precision. Each piece’s meticulous craftsmanship is evidence of the skill these Kaarigars’ forebearers passed down to them. This ancient art is currently expanding with modern techniques and precision instruments to bring out the finest engravings and carvings on gemstones. Ma Passion has successfully helped India’s ancient craft of gemstone carving come back to life.

Every Ma Passion gemstone carving is a one-of-a-kind creation. Our kaarigars might not be able to duplicate their works of art as it would be nearly impossible to find an identical stone again.

The Canadian province of Labrador is where the name “Labradorite” originated. This gemstone has a beautiful blue hue and exhibits labradorescence, which is a rainbow of different colored light waves that dance across cleavage planes within the stone. Labradorites come in a wide range of colors other than blue, including black with blue or dark grey undertones, yellow sheen, andor green.

As a stone of metamorphosis, labradorite is a helpful ally in times of transition, bestowing fortitude and tenacity. It is claimed to elevate consciousness, balance and protect the aura, and ground spiritual forces. It is said to be excellent for boosting intuition and eradicating worries and insecurities. It is intended to arouse the imagination, calm an overactive mind, and foster excitement and original thought.

At Ma Passion, white labradorite is distinctive in its pairing of white with blue fires and is rarer than the blue and black specimens of labradorite. An ace artisan in Rajasthan received this stone from Madagascar and used his ancestors’ techniques and knowledge to fashion the form of Lord Ganesha. This Labradorite Ganesha sculpture is one of the best creations at Ma Passion. The Lord of knowledge is seated next to a Shivling, which is a representation of Lord Shiva in his traditional stance, producing a potent image of divinity and goodwill.
