Stories of Ma Passion Gemstones – Purple Jade

Ma Passion has been preserving fine Indian art since 2001. Gemstone carvings, couture jewellery, and miniature paintings are the three avenues through which the brand keeps Indian craftsmanship alive.

Our kaarigars work tirelessly to keep their generational art of gemstone carving alive. Every piece is made with the utmost precision and dedication by the craftsmen. The intricate detailing of each piece is a testament to the talent passed on to these Kaarigars from their ancestors. This inherited art is now evolving with contemporary styles and modern precision tools to bring out the finest engravings and carvings on gemstones. Ma Passion has successfully contributed to reviving this artform of ancient gemstone carving in India.

In one of Ma Passion’ s masterpieces, the exquisite skill and modern aesthetics of the artist has transformed a piece of the lavender-hued gemstone, purple jade, into a divine sculpture of Lord Shiva. This sculpture of Lord Shiva’s expressive face, a crescent moon on his head, and Vasuki, his snake, is one of the most remarkable depictions of the God who protects and shapes creation. The inclusion of brown specks that occur naturally in the stone gives this mesmerising design a vintage and elegant appearance. The exquisite gemstone is rare and is only found in the Bursa region of Turkey.
