These gemstones provide the canvas for our generational artisans from Rajasthan, India to keep their ancestral artform of gemstone carving alive. Each carver works to accentuate the unique qualities of each gemstone by using different techniques and tools to do justice to the distinctive physical and chemical properties of each stone.
Every Ma Passion carving is the only one of its kind in the world. Not only would it be close to impossible to find the exact same stone again, but our kaarigars would perhaps not be able to recreate their masterpieces in the same way again.
This journey of exclusivity begins with the gemstone. A rare and beautiful stone in the Ma Passion collection is Polish Flint. The only gemstone found in Poland, it exhibits neutral hues with subtle flowing patterns in shades of grey, brown, and/or cream.
One of the masterpieces carved in this stone highlights our kaarigars’ skill of implementing doddi work – a technique that takes decades to perfect – to a delicate objet d’art that features Lord Ganesha.
